Dear Prudence

Hired hand roadie Hal Janssen found himself in a small room off the stage just as the early show ended, when Garcia walked in. A fan, he told Jerry he enjoyed his music. He recalls that, by way of response, "Jerry looked at me and leaned in to meet me eye to eye. Then he pulled his red sunglasses down and looked deeply into me, he then tilted his head and smiled at me. Then he pushed the glasses back up his nose onto his face, and stood back up again. I then opened the door which I had entered the room through, and held the door as Jerry disappeared backstage."

Lucrative little runout playing for John Scher. Greg Errico leaves the Garciaverse at the end of this tour, returning 10/13/82 at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. That would kick off an eight-month stint with Errico at the drums, bringing a bashing power that would drive Garcia to play louder, and often better. That stint, ending 6/5/83 at the Chance club in Poughkeepsie, would be Errico's last.
